Akylbek Abdykalykov awarded Asian World Film Festival prize for Best Male Role
Bishkek. Nov. 2, 2018. /Kabar/. The 4th Asian World Film Festival drew to an end in Los Angeles. The closing ceremony of the film festival took place at the ArcLight Cinema, where the winners were announced. In his welcome speech, film festival originator Sadyk Sher-Niyaz thanked the film festival team, sponsors and the Mayor of Culver City for their support. He also noted that the film festival annually gathers its friends and like-minded people, who together make great work. This film festival gives hope to many filmmakers from all over Asia. For many, the film festival has truly become a window into the big world of cinema, he shared. Film director, screenwriter and member of the jury of the 4th Asian Film Festival Dalmira Tilepbergenova, told that the award for the Best Male Role was awarded to People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Abdykalykov for the main role in the feature film directed by Temir Biernazarov "Night Accident" . The film festival kicked off on October 24, 2018. Every year the film festival shows the best films of Asian countries, most of which were nominated for the Oscar and Golden Globe film awards. The film festival was originated in 2015 by film director, screenwriter, producer, public figure and deputy the Kyrgyz Parliament Sadyk Sher-Niyaz and organizes the screening of the best films of the Asian region recognition of and to draw attention to the high level of cinematographers of the Asian region, strengthen the relationship between the Asian and Hollywood film industry.
 
Ex-president of Kyrgyzstan visits UN Headquarters
Bishkek, Nov. 2, 2018 / Kabar /. As part of the activities in the High Level Advisory Board on Mediation, established by the initiative of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in 2017, ex-President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva visited the UN headquarters (New York, USA), the Public Foundation of Roza Otunbayeva reported. Roza Otunbayeva met with UN Deputy Secretary General, head of the UN Department of Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, Assistant Secretary General for Peacebuilding, Oscar Fernandez-Taranco, Assistant UN Secretary General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jencha and Assistant UN Secretary General, Assistant Administrator of UNDP, UNDP Regional Director Mirjana Spoljarik Egger. During the meetings held from Oct.31 to Nov. 2, the issues of promoting preventive diplomacy, the effective use of mediation tools were discussed, and further work plans were identified within the framework of the High-level Advisory Council. A High Level Advisory Board on Mediation was established in September 2017, at the initiative of the UN Secretary General Guterres. Along with the former President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbayeva, the Council includes 17 more members from the current and former world leaders, senior officials and well-known experts, who combine an unprecedented spectrum of experience, skills, knowledge and relationships. The group was created to “raise diplomacy for peace” and increase the capacity of the UN to conduct effective mediation diplomacy at all levels.

Kyrgyzstanis win three gold medals at Open Taekwondo Championship of Eurasia
Bishkek, Nov. 1, 2018. /Kabar/. The national team of Kyrgyzstan won 9 medals and the Cup at the Open Taekwondo Championship of Eurasia, the Federation of the sport reported. The tournament was held in Cyprus from 22 to 27 October. The gold medals were won by Kanat Aralbekov, Igor Maximov, Orozbek Eles Uulu. The silver medalist is Ernysbek Hanbolot uulu. The bronze medals were also won by Orozbek Eles uulu, Igor Maximov, Kilich Tokoev, Tolonbai Omurzakov.
 
USA to transfer equipment worth $20 thsd to training center of Prosecutor General's Office
Bishkek, Oct. 29, 2018. /Kabar/. The United States will hand over computers, projectors and other equipment worth $ 20,000for the class and staff of the Training Center of the Prosecutor General’s Office. This equipment will not only strengthen the institutional capacity of the Training Center, but also support the preparation of current and new prosecutors under the newly developed Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, which will enter into force on January 1, 2019. The handover ceremony will take place on October 30 and will be attended by Deputy Prosecutor General Jamilya Dzhamanbayeva, Director of the Prosecutor’s General Office Training Center Gulmira Davletbaeva and Director of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section (INL) of the US Embassy in Bishkek Sandeep Paul. Since 2001, the Department International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Section at the US Embassy has provided Kyrgyzstan with technical assistance and material support worth over $ 25 million, which has led to significant achievements in five key areas: the fight against illicit drug trafficking, the rule of law, the reform of the internal affairs bodies and assistance to the public in respect of public order, the fight against corruption and human trafficking.
